Visit Turkey : The Lost Land of the Bible !

Turkey is a very important Bible Land but many Christians do not know that. Rather Israel is considered the Holy Land because it is the land that Jesus lived and died, and the church began in Jerusalem.

But soon after Jesus’ death, the Gospel spread northward to Antioch, a city located in southeastern Turkey. For the following 1000 years, the land of Turkey became the center for the growing Christian movement and Turkey has been the site of many of the most crucial events in the history of Christianity.

From Genesis to Revelation , Turkey is the undiscovered Jewel of Biblical history. Throughout the ages it has been a tapestry of cultures and civilizations woven together by the indelible finger of God!

Perhaps, the Sacred Land where Paul of Tarsus lived and ministered will challenge you, your friends, and your church to renew your “first love”.

Turkey is only second to Israel for Biblical sites and history. The church was established in Turkey and spread throughout the world starting in the 1st century AD as Paul and other Apostles and Disciples of Jesus worked in then Asia Minor.

“…the Spirit and the bride say …Come!”

We not only know the sites and how to give quality service, we know why Turkey is important for Christians.

‘Turkey…a place of Christian pilgrimage?’ question is always being asked to   us  and  they  add  after  this :

‘I’m saving my money to go to the Holy Land.’ So why should I go to Turkey ?

Many Christians are unaware that more than 66 % of the New Testament sites plus numerous Old Testament ones are  actually  in  Turkey .

Two-thirds of the twenty-seven books in the New Testament were either written to or from Asia Minor.

Here, the followers of Jesus were first called ‘’Christians’’ (Acts 11:26) in Antioch-on-the-Orontes.

The three great Apostles St.Paul, St.Peter, and St.John have all laid the foundation stones of churches in Asia Minor.

John left Judea and moved to Ephesus to live among the Seven Churches in western Turkey.

In his first letter, Peter addressed the Christian communities in five provincial regions of Asia Minor.

Paul’s missionary journeys took him three times through western Anatolia. It was in Alexandria Troas that he had the vision of a man appealing to him to extend his work to Macedonia.

Polycarp and Ignatius were famous Apostolic Fathers who lived in Smyrna and Antioch.

All Seven Ecumenical Councils were held in western Anatolia.

It was from Constantinople that the Eastern Roman Empire was ruled and one of the most stately and most honored Christian buildings, St.Sophia, was built here.

Between the 11th and the 16 th centuries Crusaders tramped across Anatolia…

Therefore, it is not an exaggeration to call Turkey ‘’the Holy Land of Asia Minor’’. Because many Jews and Christians are not aware of this rich Biblical heritage, until recently faith tourism had been slow to develop in Turkey.

People of faith from around the world now visit Turkey in ever-increasing numbers.

Even if they have been looking at their Bible maps for years, they have not recognized that the region identified as Asia Minor is modern Turkey.

The Euphrates River (the most mentioned river in the Bible next to the Jordan) which is a branch  of  the  river  that  flowed  through the Garden of Eden ( Gn  2:14), has its source in the snows of mountainous, eastern Anatolia (Turkey).

Unfortunately, many laypersons do not appreciate the substantial historical and geographical links between Turkey and the world of primitive Christianity. This is somewhat understandable since western Christians do not readily associate their roots with a predominantly Muslim country in which

Christians of all stripes constitute only a minuscule fragment of the population. Even if Turkey’s large number of biblical venues is second only to Israel, it still doesn’t equate in many western, Christian minds with a designation of the ‘other Holy Land’.

The hospitality of the Turkish people, both in urban and rural areas, will make your journey a joy and pleasure.

The tour guides are the face of Turkey to visitors. All our guides are licensed and do an excellent job of introducing our wonderful country and your local Turkish tour guide will share his vast knowledge with you.
